This book was an excellent read for a first time, last minute mum. I found out late in my pregnancy I was expecting and this book was recommended both by the parenting classes I attended and by my independent midwife.
The book covers a lot of information but in manageable chapters.
I found that the information presented was very clear and balanced. Everything was presented positively but all areas of the experience of birth were covered and it addresses any fears a new mum might have.

I really enjoyed this book. It was comprehensively and succinctly written and I felt as though it gave me all the options and pros and cons of some of the decisions that have to be made during child birth. I used this book to hep me write my birth plan.

I read this book a week before I was due to give birth and it is the best birth book I have read. I t really helps you to relax about labour and birth and get into a positive frame of mind. Personally I didn’t have the easiest birth but it was very positive and I was very relaxed so I dealt the pain better. This I feel was helped by reading this book beforehand. It’s a good guide for mental preparation for labour.
