this bottle matches my breast pump which means I can attach the bottle straight to the pump and pump straight into the bottle. My son took very well to this bottleas he was a quick drinker it came out very easy for him. the bottle comes entirely apart so everything can be cleaned thoroughly

We have used this a few times now as wanting the option of bottles for expressed milk, so far so good. Strongly advise watching the tutorial on tips for feeding using the bottle before trying. I haven’t noticed any nipple confusion. This is easy to clean and assemble. My only complaint is it’s a little pricey. Recommend !

I love the fact that since 3 weeks old my son has been bottle fed here and there by daddy. It give them time to bond and my son had never given up on breastfeeding g either. I strongly believe these bottles are one of the closest to natural.

Quality bottle for using if combination feeding or if expressing.

One way valve prevents air and allows baby to control flow of milk.

Only downside is that it’s a little more complicated to re-assemble.

I’ve combine fed my baby from birth. Started using calma when baby was a couple of weeks old and cup feeding larger milk volumes wasn’t practical. Baby took to bottle on second attempt. Used calma for a few months then switched brand as they started to leak. Good experience with these when starting out, but they are expensive and leak after a couple of months use.

Helped my daughter develop a better latch and didn't cause nipple confusion. They are expensive bottles but they are definitely worth it. They do cause a few bubbles in the bottom of the milk though which for a colicky baby isn't great but I'd say it's worth the try.

    • Strengths:

No nipple confusion, works as closely like the breast than I’ve had before.

    • Weaknesses:

      Not for the impatient baby!

I have always worried about nipple confusion with breastfeeding and this teat mimiks the latch and technique the breastfed infant would experience at the breast.
It can take the baby a little getting used to, so if my daughter is particularly inpatient, it can be a bit of trouble getting her to take it and maintaining the suction needed to stimulate the flow of the bottle.

I recently gave one of these teats and bottles to a mum-friend of mine whose baby was having trouble with bottles of formulae and the flow of a regular teat which was causing stubborn trapped wind; it’s worked wonders for easing the discomfort of her daughter.
So it’s not just for breastfed babies, it can help with symptoms of colic, too.

My baby loved his medela bottle, I was breastfeeding until he was 6 months, and this was the only bottle he would take.
My boyfriend helped me to feed him, so the bottle was a life saver! Super recommend!

    • Strengths:

      Perfect for breastfeeding babies

    • Weaknesses:

The teat is very big so very tiny babies would struggle

My second baby was premature and was very dinky, the teats were a bit too big to start with but once he was a bit bigger he took to them over anything else while breastfeeding. We did eventually go to mam bottles but these bottles are perfect for during the breastfeeding period especially if you’re using a medela breast pump.
The price is the only real down side really as they are very pricey.

Description

The Medela CalmaBaby Bottle 150ml is designed as an alternative to breastfeeding, for mothers who still wish to feed their babies with breast milk.

It was developed in cooperation with breastfeeding experts from the Hartmann Human Lactation Research Group at the University of Western Australia. Calma allows your baby to suck, swallow and breathe just like breastfeeding: your baby can drink, pause and breathe in a natural rhythm, calmly and comfortably.

As with breastfeeding, your baby needs to create a vacuum to start the milk flow. As with breastfeeding, your baby can maintain a natural sucking action, for an easy transition from breast to Calma and back again.
