I didn't have a monitor of any kind with my first baby, I co-slept and so my baby was always close by. However, I was determined to get my second baby sleeping in his own cot from an early age, in the hopes that it would enable me to sleep better. We quickly realised that this meant we were more worried about our baby as he was further away from us.

So my husband bought the Angelcare monitor and I have found more than anything that it means when I do sleep, I sleep sounder and deeper than I did with my first as I know that the monitor will wake me if my baby stops breathing.

It's a great design, I love the Angel night light, it's the perfect amount of light for the bedroom without keeping us all up in the night. The parent handset gives so much information, I particularly love the metronome which "tick tocks" to show that our baby's movements are being picked up. The sound quality is very good too.

My only issue would be that it's fiddly to turn the monitor off when you pick the baby up. If you pause it on the parent handset it bleeps at you which is annoying for whichever parent gets left with it. So we tend to switch it off on the Angel nightlight part which invariably gets forgotten (usually by my husband) so just as you're cuddling the baby back to sleep or settling down to feed, the monitor goes off!

This is our only gripe with it though, we would absolutely recommend to anybody for peace of mind and have done already several times! Yes, it's pricey, but I don't think you can put a price on a good night's sleep!

This is a very good monitor. I wanted reassurance when I had my daughter so the sensor pad was really useful in helping me get some sleep in her early days - I wasn’t up worrying whether she was breathing or not! If the sensor pad doesn’t pick up the slightest movement, a very audible alarm sounds, so there’s no chance of missing it!
The important thing to remember is to put the handset on hold if you need to take Baby out of the crib for some reason!
The monitor itself is very good - crystal clear with a very good range and multiple channels to select should sound quality be affected. The handset is easy to use, shows the temperature of the room and keeps its charge very well so you can have it plugged in or just running on the rechargeable battery. The night light feature on the monitor is just the right amount of bright, and the controls on it are very easy to use. You can also switch off the sensor pad functionality should you want to.
My main criticisms, if I had to find some would be, there are quite a lot of symbols on the handset to initially get your head around, but a good study of the manual should sort that out for you. There isn’t any talkback feature - not a concern for me but it might put others off and it is quite pricey.
Having said that, the reassurance it has given me through the early days of my first child, and the reassurance it continues to give me when she’s up in bed is priceless.

This monitor has been great, it’s easy to use and the manual it comes with is really helpful to understand all the different settings. The movement sensor works well and is very sensitive (as you would hope!)

This was a wonderful present from my mother in law. Its easy to set up and fairly easy to use. Sensitive so you can get baby food during the night before it becomes a screamfest. The mat however ... its small. Baby rolls off it, alarm sound. On both moniters. It was some miracle that our baby didn't wake! Suffice to say it went back in the box. Other than that, fab little monitors!
