Fab baby gate, we have 2 downstairs and one upstairs. Easy to install onto the door frames. Only downside is that the locking mechanism on one of the gates is very stiff making it hard to open and close. Overall a well priced product to keep little legs safe!

I have two of these, one at the top and one at the bottom of the stairs. Perfect for what you need. The lock is brilliant, can be hard to open at times. You need to get the action right but other than that its great. 100% child proof and sometime adult proof. Easy to fit and hasn't left any damage to the wall.

We bought this 4 years ago to stop our dogs going upstairs. Now we have a little boy it's used to stop him too! After all these years it still works just as good. Its easy for us to open, and I'd imagine it will be difficult for my little boy to do as he gets older.

It does what it’s suppose to, it’s hard to open which is brilliant and as my little boys get older they won’t be able to open it until we remove it. It fits most averaged sized door frames.

Very happy with this purchase. It was only £17 in Tesco. We liked that it was a pressure fitting and didn’t require any screwing into the walls so was ideal for us so we didn’t damage our landlords walls! Very quick and easy to set up. The gate is easy to open one handed and can be slammed shut. The latch has a handy red and green colouring- if it’s green it’s shut properly if it’s red the gate is still open.

    • Strengths:

Hard to open - but that's a good thing when it comes to a baby gate

    • Weaknesses:

It's feels a little bit cheap and not very sturdy

I bought this gate on offer for £13 - so I can't really moan about it!
It was so easy to set up, like ridiculously easy. Took me probably 5 minutes. I love that there's no screws you have to put into the wall (although there is the option to do that) and it feels like it's really secure onto the wall and my stair banister.
It is hard to open with one hand, which isn't ideal when you've got a baby in your arms. But I'd rather it be that way than too easy to open!
It also does feel a bit cheap and not very good quality, but like I said, I got it for a bargain so I can't complain - but I would if I paid the full price.

We wanted gates that were pressure fit and not something we had to drill and screw into the walls and these seemed to be just the job.
They are easy to assemble and fit and as long as you tighten them properly/fully they are very secure. I like that they have the lock at the top and catches at the bottom so you can have both sides down for extra piece of mind or just one side down to stop the gate opening a certain way. You can get extenders as well to fit to bigger gaps and these are simple to fit to the gate and this is what we did at the top of our stairs. We have 3 of these gates around the house and the only thing we've noticed is that the lock can get quite stiff making it hard for us adults to open. It doesn't happen all the time and isn't a major issue just a minor annoyance.

I got this gate as it was one of the cheaper pressure fix gates on offer. Although it is made well, the locking system is very hard to use and impossible to open one handed. I have since replaced with the slightly more expensive lindam pressure gate.

Bought this product as we needed a gate, and it was a good price - hadn’t read any reviews for it. Upon opening the box, we discovered that the mechanism had bent out of shape and the locking part didn’t actually attach to the solid part. My husband managed to rectify this, and went to put it on the stairs. However I had to stop him, because when I looked at the gao that I would have had to fit through to get through the gate, it was so narrow it was ridiculous! Plus as it’s a pressure gate, you also have to step over the bottom part. Not practical when carrying children through to their nursery. Safe to say we sent it back.

Description

Simplicity, design and quality all combined to create the Safety 1st Simply Close Metal Gate. Easy to install with its strong U-shaped pressure fit, this gate is suitable to use in doorways and staircases.

The durable steel gate fits openings from 73 to 80cm.  The gate features four pressure points, so there is no need to drill into the doorframe.

A green/red indicator shows when the gate is open or closed for parents’ peace of mind.

The handle design enables one-handed opening and shutting and features a 2-step unlocking action, making it difficult for a child to open the gate.

A secondary locking mechanism provides the option of a one way-two way opening.
