Very expensive and I was quite apprehensive about spending so much on a pump which I did not know for sure I would be using much if at all. I knew I wanted to breast feed my baby for at least a year but there are many reasons why breastfeeding may not be possible. So the initial outlay for a pump was quite daunting.
Once baby arrives and feeding was well established I began to pump. I found th settings easy to use and i was to find the right setting for me to express without discomfort. The pump is effective with stimulation to increase supply and highly recommended at breast feeding support groups. I would never recommend any other band for expressing.
With having 3 early baby's this product was amazing it was easy to clean. Easy to put together and light to carry around and easy to use. It really helped my milk supply before I was able to breast feed.
So i gave birth and my baby was in neonatal uni , and i couldn't breastfeeding and was very worry that not going to have milk , so one of amazing nurse gave me this pomp ! In two days time i had so much milk and could carry on feeding my baby . Its amazing , strong pomp , didn't hurts nipples .
As a breastfeeding mum, having a back up of milk (for those night feeds, a cinema trip, getting your hair done) was invaluable to me.
This is one of the higher end pumps that I recommend to anyone wishing to store up milk; the let-down feature takes some getting used to, but my output has been fantastic.
It’s not as portable as some of the pumps out there, but I have actually taken out while my husband has fed my daughter with expressed milk and have been able to run it on batteries — it fits in my diaper bag quite well (and it’s actually not a big bag!)
One of the best things I’ve used this pump for is power pumping to up my supply when I thought it was dwindling; taking only three sessions over three days and it’s worked wonders, and that is only using it as a single pump!
The parts are easy to clean and replacements are easy to come across. You get what you pay for with Medela, and short of a hospital grade pump, this one has been a life saver.
The price is a little high compared to the single Medela

I have recently started pumping whilst in hospital with my baby girl who is currently in nicu, I find double pumping so much easier and quicker when expressing and the Medela swing maxi does this perfectly, you can choose the strength to what suits you and it is all very easy to assemble! It’s also easily removable for washing and sterilising because let’s face it who has time to faff around taking things apart! I’d definitely recommend!
Loved loved loved my Medela Pump I couldn’t live without it!! I had a massive over supply to begin with & was expressing to tube feed baby who was in NICU it only took 15-20 to completely empty my breasts & it was easy to clean & steralise the equipment! Then when I suffered with a drop in supply I used the pump to power pump to get my supply back up along with baby feeding & after only 2 days my supply was plentiful again! Medela is a must for every breastfeeding mama!!!
Baumby wouldn't latch but I wanted him to have breast milk. I bought this and it saved me so much time, as can now express from both breasts at the same time. It makes a humming noise that isn't too loud. It has different expressing strengths so you can choose which one you feel comfortable with .
I absolutely love this product. It is so simple to use but really effective at expressing the milk. The initial setting that stimulates your nipples to encourage let down before you start on the pump is really brilliant and saves the bruised feeling of trying to draw milk out too early. The equipment is all really easy to clean and sterilise without too many loose parts. I have since bought a bra which holds the bottles in place as holding the bottles to the breast for the entire time of expressing I found uncomfortable, I do feel that for the price one of these should be included.
I got the double pump because I had a big excess of milk for a long time. The hand held pump was not an option for time reasons.
This is so easy to use and collects my milk so efficiently with no pain or feeling at all really.
I purchased the bra to go with it so I can use it hands free which I would highly recommend.
This was a life saver whennmg son was younger and I was going out for a few hours and leaving him with his daddy but still meaning he could have breast milk rather than powdered milk. Defiantly recommended to anyone who is wanting to pump milk.
Requires a pumping bra to enable an efficient pumping session

I bought this as a replacement when I broke my plug on my old pump but could not wait to pump whilst the replacement plug was posted from medela. It is super handy being able to pump both breasts at the same time and it has really helped to increase my supply. However to have an efficient pumping session I found that i need a pumping bra. I have not purchased one but adapted an old sports bra by cutting holes for the funnels on the pump to go through. I don't have the calma cups but still find the pump pretty comfortable when using the pumping bra and can get on with eating or drinking my coffee while pumping. If it had not been for this pump I would not still be able to breastfeed my 6 month old.
This is an excellent brand and model of breast pump. The dual system allows you to pump twice as much in a quarter of the time. If you were continuing to breastfeed and going back to work, I think this product would be a life saver. It is compact and easy to transport. The system comes apart easily, making it quick to clean. The only down side is the price.
Although I breastfed my twins, I also decided I wanted to pump, in order for my partner to be able to give them one bottle of expressed milk during the night when they woke. Just so i could try and sleep a little longer. The product itself is fabulous, easy to use, not to noisy and straightforward. It didn't miss a beat in the whole twelve months and I used it 3-4 times a day. I was able to pass it on to a friend when I was done and I believe it is still going strong.
Great pump can use plugged into a wall socket or with batteries con is that its not very quiet. Always managed to pump a decent amount of milk. Easy to clean too
I have no comparison as this is the only pump I've used but it did the job well! Good suction and result. There are certain levels you can use, it took a while to get used to what level I need but like anything it's just practice. Great as it goes through the feeding cycle of the baby.
Slightly noisy, quite obvious if you are pumping at your desk at work. There is a main or a battery option which works if you need to take it out with you.
The little storage bottles that come with it and attach onto the lump are brilliant. A great size for popping in your bag and also fab that you can remove the lid and pop on the teat. I found it easy to clean and not too big to carry around.
For me the best breast pump, absolutely amazing for pumping, I have used different one from other company, I wasn't happy for it. But medela makes breastfeeding mother’s lives a lot of easier. Medela breast pump is efficient and easy to use!
I can recommend to all mums ?

Used to help my milk to come in then continued to use until I rented a hospital grade version. Easy to pump both breasts at once, and although very noisy it gets the job done. Annoying that if it gets knocked over it spills the milk as it's not sealed shut.
Good suction, can be altered to what suits your needs. Allows more release of milk than other brands
Weaknesses:
Quite loud

This is my third breast pump after purchasing the manual Tommee Tippee & electric Tommee Tippee & I am not disappointed. It is still quite loud so have to use in another room during the night & takes slightly longer than the hospital grade Medela Symphony (worth£2.5k!) that I hire due to trying to increase my supply but is the best pump out of the affordable brands available.
I had to use this while my son spent time on nicu, and both myself and my husband got frustrated by the noise. It did the job, though not quite as well as the expensive hospital grade pumps, but of course you get what you pay for so i didn't mind that too much. I liked to be able to express both breasts at once, and it was so helpful that this pump attaches to both medela bottles and the hospital bottles; it made the situation much easier as I was only allowed to use the hospital sterile bottles, which meant I didn't have to rent one of their pumps. I would recommend buying the mains supply plug as the batteries only lasted for 2 25 minute sessions, which means you could be using up to 16 batteries a day which is not exactly environmentally friendly, nor cheap! I would recommend this pump, but I would also suggest getting a hands-free pumping bra as it makes things so much easier when caring for a baby at the same time. As with all electric pumps the tubing may require being changed every so often to maximise the effectiveness, and the flanges come in different sizes to suit individual needs. 8/10.
This pump made life a lot easier in the early days when my little boy struggle to latch to my nipple. I wanted to make sure he got all the first milk. It was very effective and is so easy to use. I managed to breastfeed for 3 weeks and towards the end of that time I was very sore so used this pump instead of my breast feeding and it was much more comfortable. I used a tea towel/towel under my boobs when I used it because when taking off the funnel there usually was a bit of milk that would drip down me. I didn’t use the teat and bottles it came with to feed my baby as he didn’t get along with the teat.
I had this pump with my second child. The good thing was that I could simultaneously express milk from both sides - this is very handy when in a hurry. The suction was also good but I realized after a couple of months it started losing the vacuum suction. Also a little on the noisy side. A good pump but quite expensive for the fact that it lost suction after a couple of months.
I have been using hospital's breastpump, which is Medela's. Since then I can not use any other products. It works very well, eas to use. This is the only breast pump I will ever use.
